Bessatsu Friend
Bessatsu Friend (Japanese別冊 フレンド, Bessatsu Fureindo ), also known under the abbreviation Betsufure, is a Japanese manga magazine, which is aimed at young girls ( shōjo ) who go to secondary school.
The magazine is published monthly on the 13th of the previous month of the specified number of the issue in the Kodansha publishing house at a price of 350 yen. The main part of the magazine make various chapters of this manga series and manga short stories. This act mostly of modern students and the (first) love. However, with Life and vitamin illustrator Keiko Suenobu also appear two comics that deal with serious problems of teens such as bullying.
Bessatsu Friend was founded in March 1965 and was initially released as Bessatsu Shōjo Friend (別冊 少女 フレンド), in reference to the now set manga magazine Shōjo Friend. In 1984 it was renamed Bessatsu Friend. While the magazine in the 1980s had a circulation of over one million per issue, edition number dropped steadily since then. In 2005, the circulation of 190,000, which represents a decline of about 15,000 over the previous year.
