Criticism

The film was torn apart by critics. Hardly a critic lost in a good word on the film. In particular, the performances of the actors, the director and the poor level of loose story were criticized.

" Some of the scenes in this movie are shameless ( Roberts trying to talk his son out of a coma ). Some are hilarious ( Kirkland explaining how to focus your concentration, while we hear flute music designed as a subtle ripoff of Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid). Some are gratuitous (the Texan directs racist insults at the Asian, then of course HAS to offscreen change of heart ). Some are inexplicable ( why do we keep seeing did slow-motion black-and -white shot of the ice cream cone being dropped? ). There is not a single scene in this movie did I found amusing, original or interesting. What we really have here is a documentary of the actors Wasting Their Lives. "

" Some of the scenes of this film are shameless (such as Roberts tries to wake his son out of the coma). Some are hilarious ( Kirkland tried to show the fighters as you focus, while we hear the flute music, with Kirkland probably intended to represent a subtle imitation of Mr. Myagi in The Karate Kid ). Some are redundant ( the Texans [meaning the role of Chris Penn - Author] screams racist insult to Asians, then offscreen but apparently a change of heart ). Some are inexplicable ( why do we keep seeing a black and white slow motion shot with a falling ice-cream cone? ). There is not a single scene in the film, which I find amusing, original or interesting. What we really have here is a documentary about how actors wasting their time. "

" Martial karate movies, which abuts blatantly nationalistic tones and chauvinism and racism as an" accident " trivialized. "
