Bettmerhorn above the Aletsch Glacier

Location

The mountain is located at the southern end of a ridge, which runs from the main summit of the area, the Eggishorn ago south-southwest and is itself accordingly as seen from the northeast rather unimpressive summit. Tapping with a web justifies the one hand, the panorama of the Aletsch glacier and opening up a ski resort in winter. On display are many famous mountains like Monteleone, Monte Rosa, Matterhorn, White Horn, Mont Blanc, Aletschhorn and the tongue portion and the lower portion of the Aletsch Glacier.

Gondola and hiking

Can be reached from the Bettmerhorn with a gondola from Bettmeralp. They reached on the south side of the summit, a height of 2647 m. From the station a hiking trail with wooden stairs in about 20 minutes leads to the actual summit. For walkers, it is possible to see on the west flank of the summit along the Aletsch Glacier. The viewing terrace and the way there are wheelchair accessible. In the top station there is a multimedia exhibition on the Aletsch Glacier. For a circumnavigation of the whole mountain ( Bettmerhorn and Eggishorn ) are expected from the mountain station of five hours, this one runs slightly downhill first four and a half kilometers along the Aletsch Glacier to Märjelensee. From there the path to the Tälligrat around leads back towards fiescheralp and Bettmeralp.

The Bettmerhorn is in the range since 2002 a UNESCO World Heritage Site declared mountain Jungfrau-Aletsch -Bietschhorn.
