Betton, Ille-et-Vilaine
Betton is a commune with 10,085 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Ille -et -Vilaine in the Brittany region.
Geography
Betton is located 9 kilometers north of Rennes, capital of Brittany. The city is crossed by the river Ille, which here forms a section of the Canal d' Ille -et -Rance, making it navigable. The channel today but more important for tourism.
History
Today Betton was taken in the 4th to 5th century by the Franks in possession and they named it after one of their leaders: Betto. The place was already Christianized by 470 of Gallo-Roman missionaries, who built there a monastery: monasterium Betoni.
