The Bever in Beverungen

The Bever is a 10.5 km long, left-sided or southwestern tributary of the Weser in the circle Hoexter, North Rhine -Westphalia ( Germany ).

It is to be distinguished from the Bever creek, an eastern tributary of the Weser. This leads further to the north at Bevern in Lower Saxony in the Weser.

Course

The creek Bever arises on the northeast edge of the flange Warburger by the 1.3 km east-southeast of Borgholz in malice mill located the confluence of the coming of Borgholz Jordan and the flowing of Natzungen or southwest zoom donkey Bach.

Name history

It is believed that the river name from the Low German word for beaver, " Bever " comes.

History

On 1 December 2006 it came to a slurry accident results in contamination of the water. Through a fist-sized crack in the fermenter the biogas plant in Borgentreich - Natzungen reached large amounts in the fermentation substrate Eselsbach and thus in the Bever, which led to a massive fish kill. Trout, eels, mullet, crabs and other aquatic animals died, of which the adjacent fish ponds were affected.
