Bezdružice

Bezdruzice ( German Weseritz ) is a town with 1,004 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in Okres Tachov in the Czech Republic. The place is in West Bohemia, 3 km north of Konstantinovy ​​Lázně ( Konstantinsbad ).

History

The first mention of Weseritz dates from 1227. The town lay in the settlement area of ​​the Choden and was owned by the noble families of Kolowrat, Swan Mountain, Lewnberg and others. In Weseritz the Bohemian scholar and humanist Christoph Hrant had Freiherr von Polschitz and Weseritz. In 1901 the town was granted by the local railway Neuhof- Weseritz a railway connection.

After the Second World War the majority of the German population were expropriated and distributed on the basis of the Beneš decrees. They found as the expellees mostly in the neighboring Upper Palatinate recording. Due to the massive population loss Bezdruzice lost its city charter.

Since October 2006 Bezdruzice is a city again.
