Bharadwaja

Bharadwaja (Sanskrit भरद्वाज Bhāradvāja m. ) Is one of the seven Rishi ( Saptarishi ) in Hinduism.

Myth

Bharadwaja is the son of Brihaspati. His mother was also pregnant by her husband and her lover Utathya Brihaspati. When it was tight for both in the stomach, kicked Dhirgatamas, the legitimate son Utatuhyas, his half-brother out of the belly of the mother.

According to the Indian epic Ramayana Bharadwaja was visited in his hermitage at Prayaga of Rama and Sita. After the epic Mahabharata Bharadwaja was the father of Drona, the teacher of the Kauravas and the Pandavas.
