History

The Bhumjaithai Party was founded on November 5, 2008 in Bangkok. The reason for the founding of this new party was the expected decision of the Thai Constitutional Court to ban the Neutral Democratic Party - the predecessor of the actual Bhumjaithai - together with the Phak Palang Prachachon and the Chart Thai Party. After the dissolution of the three parties were former members of the Neutral Democratic Party and a former wing of the Phak Palang Prachachon led by Newin, in the Bhumjaithai. Thus Abhisit Vejjajiva got the simple majority of votes in the parliament and became Prime Minister.

On 15 December 2008, the Bhumjaithai Party took over government. Their leader is de facto Newin Chidchob, the political activities for five years after the dissolution of the Thai Rak Thai party were prohibited by the Thai Constitutional Court in 2007.

Bhumjaithai occurred on July 3, 2011, at the general election in Thailand in 2011 and won 34 of 500 seats in the House of Representatives.
