Bhutan Broadcasting Service

Bhutan Broadcasting Service ( Dzongkha: འབྲུག་རྒྱང་བསྒྲགས་ལས་འཛིན, Wylie transliteration: ' brug rgyang bsgrags las ' dzin; short: BBS ) is a broadcaster in Bhutan. BBS and BBS 2 are the only two TV programs can be received in Bhutan. It also maintains the only radio station. A special feature of the TV is that the programs are broadcast in both Dzongkha and English. Usually, the broadcast will be simulcast in English after the broadcast on Dzongkha.

History

The broadcasting company was founded in 1973 for the Bhutanese radio stations NYAB. 1986, the radio station in Bhutan Broadcasting Service was renamed. The first television station, BBS is sent since 1999, the second television station, BBS 2 is sent since 2012. It was also announced that it will be possible in the near future to be able to radiate even more television stations. Since early 2012, a live streaming service is offered first for BBS and the associated radio stations, since April for BBS 2
