Biaches
Biaches ( Picard: Biache ) is a commune of 368 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton Peronne and is part of the Communauté de communes de la Haute Somme.
Geography
Biaches located west of Peronne on the D1 road department and is separated from Peronne through the valley of the Somme. On the outskirts of the village a military cemetery located ( Nécropole national).
History
The community was fought fiercely during the First World War; especially around the homestead La Maisonette raged in 1916 heavy fighting during the Battle of the Somme. The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
