Biba Sakurai

Biba Sakurai (Japanese桜 井 美 马, Biba Sakurai, born June 8, 1989) is a Japanese Shorttrackerin.

Sakurai's first major international event was the Junior World Championships in Miercurea Ciuc in early 2006. There, she divorced about 1500 meters until the semi-finals by a disqualification from, on the other distances it did not come out of the prelims. Still in the 2006/07 season began, the Japanese Association for the first time in her short track speed skating World Cup, where they over 500 meters barely missed the Top 10 right off the bat. With the season she reached the third place even at the second World Cup in Jeonju. Even in the single race you soon succeeded the jump into the top ten with a tenth place in Montreal over 1500 meters. The World Cup 2007/ 08 was very successful for Sakurai, especially in the later World Cups placed it more often good. With an eighth place finish at the fourth World Cup in Turin she improved her best performance so far at two places, at the season finale in Salt Lake City she finally managed a sixth place. In addition, she managed 16th place at the Junior World Championships and 27th place at the World Championships in the adult area. After she had not gone in the first two stages of the World Cup season 2008/ 09 at the start, Sakurai managed in Beijing again in eighth position.
