Bidovce

Bidovce ( Bidowetz German, Hungarian Magyarbőd - to 1902 BOD) is a municipality in the southeast Slovakia.

The community Bidovce is about 15 kilometers east of Kosice in the Valley of Olšava, a 50 km long tributary of the Hornád. To the east of the mountain range Bidovce Slanské Hills rises with the 856 meter high Bogota. The mountain incision between Bidovce and Sečovce with a summit of 473 meters ( Dargovpass, Dargovský priesmyk ) is used by the European Route 50 that leads over the mountains.

Neighboring communities of Bidovce are Čakanovce in the north, Nižná Kamenica in the northeast, Svinica the east and south, Olšovany in the southeast ( point of contact ), Ďurďošík in the west and Trsťany in the northwest.

In Bidovce Trunk Road crosses 576 ( Bohdanovce Vranov nad Topľou ) the Highway 50 ( Kosice Michalovce ), which also forms a part of the European route 50.

The town was first mentioned as Bidovce Beud in 1273 writing.

The population of the municipality Bidovce consists of nearly 94 % of Slovaks, 52 % of the population profess the Reformed Church, 31 % of the population gave Roman Catholic, and about 3 % Greek Catholic. Confession as to ( figures from 1991 )
