Bidzina Kvernadze

Bidsina Kwernadse ( born July 29, 1928 in Sighnaghi, Kakheti, Georgia, † July 8, 2010 in Tbilisi ) was a Georgian composer of classical music.

Biography

After school he studied at the Conservatory and graduated in 1953 from Tbilisi. In the following decades he was the author and composer of numerous operas, symphonies and ballet music, which became part of Georgian culture.

He also was a composer of film music in more than 30 films, such as along with Dschansug Kachidse in Data Tutaschchia based on the novel of Chabua Amiredschibi. In addition, he also composed music for theater performances of Tschintschraka, Kwarkware, I see the sun and Midsummer Night's Dream.

For his works and his achievements he has won several awards and received the 1981 Zachary Paliashvili Prize and in 1985 the Shota Rustaveli State Prize -. In addition, in 1988 the honorary northern Georgia, he was awarded. In addition, he was elected in 1996 an Honorary Citizen of Tbilisi.
