Biecz
Biecz (read "Bi -e- lish ," German Beitsch ) is a city in the powiat Gorlicki in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland. The is also the seat of the urban and rural commune ( gmina miejsko - wiejska ).

Geography
Geographical Location
Biecz located 36 kilometers west of Krosno and 100 km east of Krakow in Doły Jasielsko - Sanockie the river Ropa.
Boroughs
The city Biecz is divided into the districts of Belna, Załawiem, Harta, Wapniskami and Kurpielem.
History
The first written mention of Biecz dates from the twelfth century. 1257 Biecz was awarded city rights. The powiat Biecz included mid-17th century eleven cities and 264 villages. 1772 the city came under Austrian rule. 1783 powiat was dissolved.
From 1975 to 1998, the city was part of the Voivodeship Krosno.
Attractions
The formerly surrounded by a city wall center is a listed building.

The municipality has a surface area of 99.0 km ². 75 percent of its territory is used for agriculture, 14 percent is covered by forest.

To the community includes the 10 Sołectwa ( Soltysships ) Binarowa, Bugaj, Głęboka, Grudna Kępska, Korczyna, Libusza, Racławice Rożnowice, Sitnica and Strzeszyn.
Education
The municipality has 11 primary schools, six middle schools and two school centers with primary and middle school.
