Bielany

Bielany is a municipality in the north-west of Warsaw.

The name Bielany, in the Polish language, a plural, derived from a white monastic buildings of the Priory of the Camaldolese.

Before administrative reorganization of Warsaw 1994 Bielany belonged to Żoliborz, today it has the status of a separate urban district. It is bordered on the southeast by Żoliborz and on the southwest by Bemowo. The northeastern boundary is the Vistula, lies on the opposite side of the district Białołęka. To the west and northwest Bielany forms the city limits of Warsaw and borders the municipalities Łomianki, Izabelin and Stare Babice in powiat Warszawski Zachodni.
