Bienville Parish, Louisiana
The Bienville Parish (French: Paroisse de Bienville ) is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. In 2010, the Parish had 14,353 inhabitants and a population density of 6.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( Parish Seat) is Arcadia.
Geography
The Parish is located in the central northwestern Louisiana, is in the north about 40 miles from Arkansas and to the west about 70 miles from Texas Station. It has an area of 2128 square kilometers, of which 29 square kilometers are water surface. At the Bienville Parish boundaries Nachbarparishes following:
History
The Bienville Parish was formed on March 14, 1848 from parts of Claiborne Parish. It was named Le Moyne de Bienville (1680-1767), a former governor of the then French Louisiana after Jean -Baptiste.
In addition, the Parish is known for the shooting death of crooks couple Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow by the police in 1934.
