Bierde is a village in the municipality of Böhme ( Samtgemeinde Rethem / Aller), which belongs to the District of Heidekreis.

History

On March 1, 1974 Bierde was incorporated into the municipality of Boehme.

Say

Bierde is full of legends. In particular, the Karlberg (highest point in Bierde ) is sagenumwogen. One of them tells the story of two giants who pelted with stones and fallen out. These stones then formed the Karlberg.

Another legend tells that Charlemagne once rested there and the mountain was so named after him.

Culture and sights

  • Immediately on Bierder Lake, a backwater of the Aller, located in a wooded area, the remains of the castle Bierde in the form of wall residues. It is a fortress in the middle of the valley of the Aller.
  • In the village center is the village house, the former old school.
  • Also in the center of the country road L159 the chapel of 1861 is from 1861 with the inscription: "Jesus Christ yesterday, today and forever".
  • Opposite the church is to be found on a barn wall a plaque with a poem in honor of the famous stallion Torador, who died in 1848.
  • On Bierder lake there is a public swimming area.
