Biesterfeld AG is the management holding company of the Biesterfeld Group, a company in the chemical and plastics distribution. Office of the family-owned enterprise is Hamburg.

History

1906, the wholesale and foreign trade merchant Wilhelm Ernst Hinrich Biesterfeld the company W. Biesterfeld & Co., which initially dealt with the salt trade. Chemicals and fertilizers were another mainstay in the 1930s. Own products were developed, international trade began. 1930 Walter Biesterfeld joined the company. After his death, his son Dirk J. Biesterfeld entered 1970, the company heritage as a general partner and led the development continues to internationally active group of companies. Today, the Biesterfeld Group focuses on the distribution of plastics and specialty chemicals as well as on the international chemical trade. The parent company Wilhelm EH Biesterfeld GmbH & Co. KG was converted in 2004 into the Biesterfeld AG, the strategic holding company of the Group.
