Bietigheim Horse Market

The Bietigheimer horse market is a nationally renowned folk festival in Bietigheim -Bissingen, which takes place at Bietigheimer railway viaduct and every year hundreds of thousands of visitors attracting. Despite this large number of visitors to the festival but has acquired the character of a party of the citizens of the city. The horse market begins on the Friday before the first Monday of September and ends on the subsequent Tuesday.

History

The history of Bietigheimer horse market began in 1792. Those days gave Duke Carl Eugen of Württemberg, the concession for a horse and cattle market. This was first held in the area of present-day Steiger tower place on 1 March 1793.

Since 1925, the Bietigheimer horse market is held in its present form. To mark the anniversary of the Bietigheimer trade association of the horse market was then combined with a commercial and industrial exhibition.

With the issuance of the benefits of trade, crafts and local industry are showcased. At the time Bietigheim included 37 stores, 179 craft and industrial companies. In the industrial plants about 3000 people worked.

On 2 September 1949, the Bietigheimer horse market was revived after a wartime interruption. Among the former attractions were climbing pole, sack races, various rides and a Ferris wheel. By the end of the fifties, the horse market every two years, has been extended by a children's party.

Presence

The following sections give the program in 2007. Though the events and their size vary from year to year, this section nevertheless provides an overview of the size and scope of the Bietigheimer horse market.

The framework program consists of 50 actors, games and rides and numerous food stalls. In a 3000 persons which is the marquee live music is presented on several days. The agricultural exhibition is designed by 46 dealers. On three days a flea market takes place at the 180 stalls are involved.
