Bikin
Bikin (Russian Бикин ) is a town in Khabarovsk (Russia) with 17,154 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located on the eastern edge of the Ussuriniederung, about 200 km south of the regional capital Khabarovsk on the right bank of the same river Bikin, a right tributary of the Ussuri. Just east of the city begin the wooded foothills of the Sikhote -Alin.
The city is the administrative center of the Bikin Rajons same name.
History
Bikin was created in 1885 as a Cossack village of the Ussuri Cossacks under the name Bikinskaja. Its importance grew with the construction of the Ussuri Railway Khabarovsk - Vladivostok 1894-97 (later eastern section of the Trans-Siberian Railway ). 1926 was the place the status of an urban-type settlement and 1938 city law.

Culture and sights
In Bikin there is a small museum, which is dedicated to esp. the history of the place and the circumstances of the first settlers. From time to time, also exhibitions of artists from the region will take place.
Economy and infrastructure
The main industry is the woodworking industry, and there are companies in the light and food industries. In the area of agricultural activity (vegetables, industrial crops, cattle).
Bikin is located on the Trans-Siberian Railway ( 8756 line kilometers from Moscow) and on the highway M60 " Ussuri " Khabarovsk - Vladivostok.
