Bilbao la Vieja is located in the center of Bilbao, between Abando, Casco Viejo and Miribilla.
History
Foundation
It is the oldest neighborhood of Bilbao, even older than the medieval old town. It was founded in 1300.
The medieval old town, which is on the right bank of the river Nervión (now Casco Viejo) was crucially important to the economic importance of Bilbao. The settlements on the left bank, which are now known as Bilbao la Vieja, is mainly known for its mining.
