The Bilkent University is a private university in Ankara, capital of Turkey. It was founded on 20 October 1984 by Ihsan Doğramacı. Initial preparations for the founding of the university, however, were made ​​in 1967. The first students were admitted in 1986. 386 students were registered in that year. Today, the university has more than 12,000 students in nine faculties. Foreign students come from 72 different countries. Furthermore, the university announced that it has presented more than 2,500 full scholarships.

According to the World University Rankings 2010/2011 the Times Higher Education Bilkent University is world ranked 112 and thus the best Turkish University.

The method in use in the University is English. The only exceptions are language courses and Turkish Law in the Law Faculty.
