Bill Morris (bishop)

William Martin Morris ( born October 8, 1943 in Brisbane ) is Emeritus Bishop of Toowoomba in Australia.

He was ordained in the Archdiocese of Brisbane in 1969 as a priest.

1992 Morris was appointed by Pope John Paul II as Bishop of Toowoomba. He entered the service 1993.

On 17 November 2006 Morris published a letter on the future of the priesthood in his diocese, speaks of the possibility of ordaining women, married men and the recognition of Lutheran ordinations, which contradicted the apostolic letter Ordinatio Sacerdotalis of John Paul II. There followed an apostolic visitation, led by Archbishop Charles Chaput, Joseph (Denver, Colorado). The Vatican announced on May 2, 2011 that Bishop Morris was relieved of his duties.
