Bill Pierce

Bill Pierce ( William Pierce Watson Jr., born September 25, 1948 in Hampton, Virginia) is an American jazz saxophonist.

Pierce attended Tennessee State University and the Berklee School of Music, where he graduated in 1972. During his studies he performed with musicians from the Boston area and went on a tour with Stevie Wonder. In the early 1980s he worked for three years with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and participated in ten of their albums. Created five albums from his intensive collaboration with Tony Williams. As a leader, he participated in jazz festivals in the U.S., Japan and Europe and recorded eleven albums. Since 1975 he teaches at the Berklee School, where he now heads the Department of woodwind instruments.
