Bill Weisband

William Wolf Weis band (* 28 Augustjul / September 10 1908greg in Odessa, .. † May 14, 1967 in Washington, DC) was an American spy.

Weis band was born in the Russian Empire, the son of Russian Jews. His family emigrated in the 1920s from the United States, 1938, he was naturalized there. In 1942, he joined as a language specialist in the communications intelligence the United States Army.

In 1950, his espionage activity was discovered for the Soviet Union. Weis band had betrayed the Venona project, among others. He escaped a conviction, because the activities of the communications intelligence should not be disclosed in court proceedings. In contrast, he spent a year in jail because he did not comply with a subpoena.
