Binayak Sen

Binayak Sen is an Indian human rights activist.

Sen is the Vice President of the People's Union for Civil Liberties ( PUCL ). He is committed to the medical care of poor people and the rights of minorities.

Sen has been detained since 14 May 2007. He is accused of having links with Maoist rebels. Sen denies this. In May 2008, 22 Nobel Prize winners turned in a letter to the President and Prime Minister of India. Which they call that Sen a trip to the U.S. should be allowed to receive the Jonathan Mann Award for Global Health and Human Rights on 29 May. Worldwide, there were demonstrations on the anniversary of the imprisonment for the release Sens.
