Bink Video

Bink is a video file format ( filename extension. Bik ) from RAD Game Tools, which like its predecessor Smacker (file name extension. Smk ) is mainly used in computer and video games. It has already been used in over 5,800 games for PC, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable ( PSP) and other devices. The format has its own video and audio codecs and supports resolutions of 320 × 240 pixels, up to the range of high definition ( HD) video.

The advantage of Bink compared to other video file formats basically consists of the simple user and programming interface, and the low demands on the player. Bink thus requires less memory and processing power than other video codecs, still achieved nearly the same quality.
