Biotic

The adjective biotic ( ancient Greek βίος, bios, life ) refers to processes and states, and occasionally items to which organisms participate. Examples of the use of the word " biotic ":

  • Biotic nutrient cycling: by living organisms caused chemical conversions
  • Biotic environmental factors: factors, conditions of the environment that are caused or influenced by living things.
  • Probiotics: good or favorable for life ( a living being ).

Less common is the use of the expression on substances that are components of living things are or can be formed from them. For this purpose, the term biogenic common.
