Bir-Hakeim (Paris Métro)

Bir -Hakeim is an aboveground station of the Paris Métro. It is located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. The station is served by the metro line 6 and it is above the Boulevard de Grenelle. There is transit traffic to the RER C at about 400 meters from the train station Champ de Mars - Tour Eiffel. The station is the nearest to the Eiffel Tower. Is named the station after the Pont de Bir -Hakeim, the bridge, on the immediately north of the station crosses the Metro, the Seine. This in turn is named after the Battle of Bir Hakeim in World War II (1942 ).

The station was taken on April 24, 1906 under the name " Grenelle " in operation, as the section from Place d'Italie was opened up by the Trocadéro. This was part of the line 2Sud. On October 14, 1907, the line profiles were changed. The line was withdrawn at the Étoile and the line 5 sailed since their route from the south to Étoile. On 6 October 1942, the line profiles were again changed, so that since then the line 6 stops at the station. The station at that time was called the " Quai de Grenelle ". Since 18 June 1949, the station has its present name.
