The film was shot with a budget of only 10,000 dollars.

In January 2009, James Nguyen traveled to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City (Utah ) to promote his film on your own, which he took advantage of a van that was decorated with stuffed birds and the faulty addresses BIDEMIC.COM and WHY DID THE EAGLES AND VULTURES Attacked? wore. He distributed leaflets to passers-by and hired a local cinema to show off the film. The trailer for the film was on July 30, 2009 in the show Attack of the Show! of the American television channel G4 shown.

On 27 February 2010, the first screening of the film took place in Los Angeles. The film was supported by the Horror Bloody Disgusting site, shown in the Silent Movie Theatre. The event was hosted by comedians Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim. This was followed by a performance in the presence of actors and film staff at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin (Texas ) on March 2 and other individual performances. Nguyen's production company Moviehead Pictures offered the film from April 3, 2009 On-Demand produced on DVD. Following the acquisition of rights by Severin Films a Special Edition is released on DVD and Blu -ray Disc in February 2011.

Criticism

The film has attracted by its unusually poor quality of sensation. Have been criticized, among other wooden acting performer, bad dialogue, a nonsensical plot and especially the special effects, which consist entirely of poorly applied CGI eagles and vultures, which clumsy maneuver to perform ( non-animated sprites in the background rotate 360 ° in flight ), acid spit on the floor and explode on impact. Birdemic is variously referred to as " the worst movie of all time ", which could replace Ed Woods Plan 9 from outer space.
