Birdling's Flat

Bird Ling's Flat is a launch site for sounding rockets in New Zealand. From here in 1963 and 1964 two rockets were launched from the type Arcas, which reached 60 km altitude.

On May 16, 1882 Verbindungsbahn of Birding 's Flat on South Bridge Branch ( South Bridge Branch Line ) was opened in Lincoln. This line was known as Little River Branch by extension to Little River on 11 March 1886. The railroad operated the station in Bird Ling 's Flat to its setting on 30 June 1962. Former railway embankment remained well preserved and is now revitalized as a public walking and cycling as Little River Rail Trail.
