Birger Nerman

Birger Nerman (* 1888 in Norrköping, † October 7, 1971 in Stockholm) was a Swedish prehistoric archaeologist and author.

Birger Nerman had two brothers, Ture Nerman the Communists and the artists Einar Nerman. Nerman was from 1923 Professor of Archaeology at the University of Tartu. He led the excavations of the Russian border fortress izborsk and Grobiņa in Latvia. 1938 Nerman was director of the State Historical Museum in Sweden.
