Birgitta Haukdal

Birgitta Haukdal ( born July 28, 1979 in Húsavík, Iceland ) is an Icelandic pop singer.

In November 1999 she joined the pop group Írafár as a replacement for the lead singer. In summer 2000, the band released their first single: Hvar he ég? ( Where am I? ). Two more singles followed 2001. 2002 the band received a recording contract with ski fans, Iceland's largest record label. There, in November 2002, she released her first album Allt sem ég sé ( Everything I see ). The album was recorded in Iceland to the fastest-selling album of the past 25 years and reached platinum status.

2003 Birgitta Haukdal was elected as pop star of the year and artist of the year. She also won her title Segðu mér allt (Tell me everything ) the national preliminary for the Euro Vision Song Contest. At the finals in Riga but they sang the song in English ( Open your heart ) that finished eighth.
