Biri Biri

Alhaji Momodu Njie Ngoos ( born March 30, 1948 in Banjul, written partly Momodu Njie or Momodu Nije ) is a Gambian footballer who is counted among the most successful in the country and the Spanish club Sevilla FC. The fans of this club gave him the nickname Biri Biri - and since 1975, the ultras grouping is on the north stand of the stadium named after him ( " Biris Norte "). For his achievements as the "greatest footballers in the country of the 20th century " in 2000 he had received from the President Yahya Jammeh a Merit. This was the second medal, his first he had received in 1985.

After his retirement from active football Njie worked in his home town of Banjul in the city council and was deputy mayor until 1994. Besides he trained the children at the club Wallidan Banjul and is now the manager of the Royal Albert market.

For the Gambian national football team, he was from 1963 to 1987 in use.
