Birmingham Oratory

The Oratorianerkirche Immaculate Conception (Church of the Immaculate Conception - Birmingham Oratory ) is a Roman Catholic parish and Oratorianerkirche in Edgbaston the English city of Birmingham million. History

The first church founded by Newman community was built in 1853 and enlarged 1858-61. After Newman's death in 1890, the plan to replace it with a larger and more representative Memorial Church was built for him. With the support of wealthy donors, the project could not be realized until 1909.

Architecture

The ( original ) organ was built in 1909 by the organ builder Nicholson and expanded in the years 1917 and 1939 by the builders Firmer gradually. In the years 1950 and 1967, the instrument of the organ builders Rushworth & Dreaper has been revised. In 1987 the organ by organ builder Nicholson ( Worcester ) was rebuilt and re- voiced. The instrument has 59 stops on four manuals and pedal.
