Birte Steven

Birte Steven ( born October 11, 1980 in Hannover ) is a German swimmer who starts for the AMTV - FTV Hamburg since 2006.

Career

In 2004 she was German champion and 2006 German Winter champion in 200 m breaststroke. In 2004 she participated in the Olympics and arrived, also about 200 m breaststroke, eleventh place. In November 2006, she was in this discipline at No. 12 in the world rankings. With the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne in 2007, it reached over the 100 - meter track the semi-finals, where she finished 14th in 1:09,46 minutes. In the final of the 200m breaststroke she finished with 2:28,13 minutes sixth place. In the subsequent German Championships, she won a new German record ( 2:25,33 minutes).

Birte Steven is a doctoral student in neuroscience at the University Hospital Eppendorf in Hamburg.
