Birthright Armenia

Birthright Armenia, also known as the Armenian name Hayk Depi (Armenian Դեպի Հայք ), is a voluntary program for development cooperation in Armenia. Participants may be financially supported by a scholarship abroad.

History

Birthright Armenia was founded in 2003 as an international non-profit organization. The aim of this organization is a deeper bond of diaspora Armenians to Armenia by them is given the ability to participate in everyday life in Armenia.

Applications are open to people of Armenian descent aged 20-32 years. The duration for Voluntary Service can be between two months.

In 2011, more than 500 volunteers from 25 countries at the Birthright Armenia Program.

The organization IrishWay organizes trips for Irish-American high school students to Ireland. Another similar project is Birthright Greece, which targets the Greek diaspora.
