Adipate is an organic chemical compound selected from the group of esters, of the adipic acid esters More specifically, the 2-ethylhexanol. Partial diethylhexyladipate is mistakenly said to be DOA ( dioctyl adipate ).
Production and representation
DEHA is obtained by esterification of adipic acid with 2-ethylhexanol at elevated temperatures.
Properties
Diethylhexyladipate is a colorless, almost odorless liquid, is chemically to the group of adipate. It has a viscosity of ~ 13 mPa · s at 20 ° C.
Use
Diethylhexyladipate cold-elastic soft PVC, rubber and cold-and light-resistant nitrocellulose lacquers is the production of plasticizers used. It serves as a cold-resistant plasticizer in PVC films for food packaging or is used in conjunction with other plasticizers to improve the performance at low temperatures in hoses, cables, slides, etc..
Safety
Diethylhexyladipate is slightly toxic, but dissolves due to its solubility in oil from the packaging and is in many foods to find (eg cheese). In foods are allowed as a maximum value of 18 mg / kg.
