Bisabolol denotes the α - and β - isomers of the chemical compound bisabolol, one of which it reflects enantiomers respectively. It is a monocyclic sesquiterpene alcohol. In nature mainly takes the (-) - α -bisabolol before.
Bisabolol has anti-inflammatory, it is used as a skin care agent in cosmetics. It occurs in the essential oil of chamomile, also are α - and β -bisabolol flavoring of bergamot oil.
Natural occurrence and effect
This originally from Spain Manzana Chamomile contains very large amounts of Bisabolol (up to 45 % of essential oil ) and is now also grown in countries such as France, Germany and the United States therefore.
Bisabolol is the main anti-inflammatory active ingredient of chamomile oil, the next contains matricin and chamazulene than similar substances. Bisabolol accelerates wound healing in addition, has an antimicrobial and against many bacterial toxins.
