Bjørnar Valstad

Bjørnar Valstad (* April 27, 1967 ) is a former Norwegian orienteers.

Valstad was 1999 and 2004 world champion on both the long distance as well as the Norwegian season. After the double triumph of 2004, he ended his career in which he won at the World Championships in addition to the four gold, two silver and three bronze medals. At the European Championships, which were held again in 2000, he won the 2000 bronze and 2002 behind the Swiss Thomas Buehrer and at the same time with the Swede Emil Wingstedt silver on the long distance. At the 2001 World Games, the first in which Orienteering stood on the program, he won with Hanne Staff, gates Sandvik and Birgitte Husebye gold in the mixed relay. In 2002 he won the overall World Cup.

1999 and 2002 he won in the relay of the Oslo club SK Bækkelagets the Jukola Relay, 1995 with NTHI. Valstad also ran for the clubs Nydalens ski club and Stjørdals / flashing. In Norwegian Championships, he won ten titles, and four more titles in the relay.

Valstad is married to Hanne Staff and has two children with her (as of 2009 ).
