The BK Ventspils is a basketball club from Ventspils in Latvia. He plays at the time (2012/ 13) in the Euro Challenge, the BBL and in the LBL.
History
" BK Ventspils" was founded in 1994. The first successes came from the 1997/98 season. They reached the play-off final of the LBL. In the following year, this success was repeated. Both finals were lost to the Latvian champion duration 90s BK Brocēni. In the season 1999/2000 BK Ventspils was the first time Latvian champion. In the following years, no team BK Ventspils was initiated by the national throne. It won seven championships in a row. Only in 2008 this dominance was broken by the ASK Riga. It succeeded BK Ventspils in 2009 to win the eighth national title. This is in addition to Ventspils Broceni with eight titles Latvian record champions. BK Ventspils International announced its debut in the 1997/98 season in Korać Cup. There they reached the knockout stages. Since then Ventspils is a regular participant of various European club competitions. In the season 2002/ 03 could be demonstrated in the NEBL third place. The following season the biggest club success at the European level was achieved with a third place in the FIBA EuroCup Challenge. In the absence of Zalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos Rytas favorites Ventspils succeeded in the 2012/13 season victory in the BBL.
