Black 'n Blue

Black 'n Blue is an American glam metal band from Portland, Oregon. It was named after its founding fairly quickly as the " next big thing " traded in the U.S., but despite a loyal fan base, they never made a commercial breakthrough.

History

The band formed in 1979 in Oregon and was originally called "Movie Star". The group renamed itself in 1980, first to " Loved By Millions" and called to drop in November of 1981 "Black 'n Blue ". In Portland they wanted to hear cover versions, which the free development of the band handicapped, so she moved in 1982 to Los Angeles. Here they first appeared in a phonogram, namely " Metal Massacre ", an independent sampler, on the other newcomers such as Metallica, Ratt and Malice were presented on.

Barely nine months into the glam metropolis, Don Dokken was aware of them and together they produced a demo, at the Michael Wagener was involved, which in turn established the contact with Dieter Dierks. In January, the band flew to recordings to Cologne in Dierks ' studio. In the same year published Black 'n Blue their self-titled debut album on Geffen Records. On this plate is probably the best-known title of the group, Hold on to 18, included. The successor, namely Without Love, was released the following year. The sound of this album was not as rough as the band had originally sounded, but had a more polished, radio-friendly production, which many fans confused. Although two titles, Without Love and Miss Mystery, were released as singles, there is no chart success for the group revealed and the album was seen more as a disappointment. A third title of this album, Nature of the Beach, was in the movie " Vision Quest " ( German title: " Crazy for You - Love on the wrestling mat " ) to hear and appeared as a B- side of the Madonna single Gambler, but was not released on the soundtrack album.

In 1986, she published the produced by Kiss bassist Gene Simmons Album Nasty Nasty, in St. Peter Criss and Sebastian Bach participated. Followed in 1988 In Heat, also produced by Simmons, then the group toured opening for Yngwie Malmsteen and Lita Ford with two albums, the group tried to return to their original, rougher sound and thus to have success, but both attempts failed, and the band broke up in 1989.

In 1997, the five members of the first cast of Black 'n Blue came together for a unique concert, which in the following year under the title One Night Only: Live was released on CD.

2003, the band came back together, but without Tommy Thayer, who had become a guitarist with Kiss; Shawn sunshine is the new guitarist of Black 'n Blue. The group went on tour and began with the recording of a new album, Hell Yeah! should be called and was scheduled for release in September 2003. The release was repeatedly delayed, most recently a release for 2008 was planned, but neither in 2008 nor in 2009 was Hell Yeah! put on the market. In fact, the album did not appear until 2011.

Black 'n Blue is still active and occasionally occurs at festivals in the U.S.. Jaime St. James was in the late 80s at a formation called Wet Engine, mid-90s then in Freight Train Jane and after a solo attempt early 2000s, 2004-2007 singer of Warrant; Tommy Thayer is still a guitarist with Kiss.

The band was on 8 December 2008 with the original line a concert in Portland, to support her longtime friend Kenny Nordone in his fight against cancer.
