Black Hundreds

Black or Black Hundreds Hundreds (Russian Чёрная сотня / Chernaya sotnja ) was the overarching term for monarchist- nationalist organizations in the last decades of the existence of the Russian Empire, including the Union of the Russian People ( also Association of the Russian people called ). The members of these organizations as the Black Hundreds (Russian pl. Черносотенцы / tschernosotenzy ) refers.

Supported by the tsarist authorities Vigilante organizations were mainly between 1904 and 1906 the main instigators of anti-Semitic pogroms and terror against revolutionaries. They belonged to the modern nationalist movements in Europe.

In March 1999 was formed during the Kosovo war of Russian volunteers again an organization under the name "Black Hundred ". As leader was Gurimow Mischa, who had already fought in Yugoslavia.
