Black Mountain (German Black Mountain) is a 812 m high hill in Australia. He is in the field of capital Canberra and just like all major hill town part of the Canberra Nature Park. He is covered with native trees and shrubs is a refuge for endangered species.

The hill rises 256 meters above the surface of Lake Burley Griffin, the large body of water in the city center. In the immediate vicinity of the summit of the Black Mountain Tower, a 195 meter high telecommunications tower and landmark of the city is. At the eastern foot of the hill, near the Australian National University, are the bodies of the Australian National Botanic Gardens and the CSIRO.

The largest part of the hill is made of white quartz sandstone, which was deposited in the early Silurian age. In the Southeast and on the northwest slope of the rock consists of slate, on the south side of greywacke of the Ordovician age.
