Black Velvet (Whisky)

Black Velvet is a Canadian whiskey which is produced today by the U.S. spirits company, Constellation Brands.

History

Black Velvet was initially produced by Schenley Industries in Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada. Production began in 1945 and Schenley 's Black Velvet Deluxe was only the officers of the armed forces during the Second World War Reserved. In 1987 the distillery was sold to the company Grand Metropolitan. In 1997, Grand Metropolitan and Guinness merged to form Diageo. 1999 Diageo sold the distillery to Canandaigua Brands. 2008 Diageo bought back the distillery after they had their operational production processes in Lethbridge, Alberta summarized.

Today, two varieties of whiskey are produced, which are exported to the USA, among other things:
