Habitat

The habitat of the Black-throated nightingale have previously been researched very little, but the scarce evidence lead us to suppose that it is adapted to particular habitats. In Gansu has been observed in the bamboo thicket at altitudes 3050-3350 meters. Further evidence comes from the temperate coniferous zone in Shaanxi and Sichuan.

Way of life

Over the life of the Black-throated nightingale is not enough awareness. In August 1886 four fallen out of the nest the young birds were found. A female that was collected in February 1965 in Thailand, had active ovaries.

Inventory and risk

So far there has been only little evidence of this type during the breeding season. 1886 were collected in Gansu four young males. In Sichuan in 1984, 1985 and 1991, provide a male observed and 1931 collected a female. In Yunnan was observed a pair in the secondary bushland in May 1997 and collected a female in May 1921. In 1905, Shaanxi four males were collected between late May and July. From Thailand, where the species is a winter visitor, there are two documents secured and an unsecured observation. In the province of Chiang Rai, a female was collected in 1965. In March 2000, a pair was observed on a creek in Mae Jarim National Park. In December 1981, there should have been an unconfirmed sighting at Doi Inthanon.

BirdLife International leads the Black-throated nightingale in the category " endangered" ( vulnerable ) and estimates the population size at from 2500 to 10,000 individuals. As the main threat to the loss and fragmentation of forests apply. Since the late 1960s, the forest cover has declined enormously by the ever-increasing Nutzholzverbrauch and the land clearing for agricultural land and grazing land in Sichuan. Nong Bong Khai, formerly one of the most important wintering areas in Thailand, was completely destroyed by deforestation.
