Blair Chapman

Blair Douglas Chapman ( born June 13, 1956 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played from 1973 to 1983 for the Pittsburgh Penguins and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League for the position of right winger.

Career

Chapman began his career as a junior player at the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Canada Hockey League, where he played together with Bernie Federko. However, although Federko noticed much stronger in the offensive area, it was Chapman, the scouts preferred on their wish list for the Draft. In the NHL Amateur Draft 1976 it chose the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round in second place, and the WHA Amateur Draft 1976 Edmonton Oilers even use the "First Overall" Draft law to secure the rights to Chapman. After Pat Price, with whom he had played in Saskatoon a year he was the second top- WHA Draft Pick, who came from the blades.

As two professional teams from two different professional leagues possessed by the Draft transfer rights to his person, the Canadians was the summer of 1976 before both an offer of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League and an offer of the Edmonton Oilers of the World Hockey Association. Chapman decided, although the offer from the WHA was financially lucrative to go to the NHL with the Penguins, where the sporting perspective was greater. DC in his rookie year in the 1976/77 season he acquired a place in the squad. After a mixed third season with only 18 points scorer transferred him Pittsburgh shortly after the start of the 1979/80 season to the St. Louis Blues, where his former teammate Federko played. In St. Louis to Chapman's offensive stats improved again and he had his best year with 51 points in 64 games.

Due to a back injury he missed large parts of the season 1981/82. After a few games on the farm team for the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in the Central Hockey League, he returned again in the NHL back, but his comeback lasted only 39 games.

Chapman finished his career after the 1982 season / 83. In seven seasons in the NHL, he played 402 games and scored 231 points.
