Blohm & Voss Ha 140

The Blohm & Voss Ha 140 was a German naval multi-purpose aircraft of the Hamburger Flugzeugbau, a subsidiary of Blohm & Voss.

Designed as the aircraft was twin-engined floatplane. In construction similar to the Blohm & Voss Ha 139, that is all metal construction with a tubular spar and gull wing. When driving BMW 132 L served two radial engines with 800 hp. The crew consisted of a pilot, radio operator and gunner who found space in a rotatable turret in the fuselage nose. Three copies were made .

A special feature of the Verdrehflügel is noted. The design of the wing spar tube, it was possible to change the setting angle of the wing. This was particularly beneficial for the landing because the plane could be kept straight and only the wings were tilted. This system was tested in the Ha 140 and used successfully in the Blohm & Voss BV 144.
