Blomberg's toad

The Colombian giant toad ( Bufo blombergi; Syn: Rhaebo blombergi ), also known as Blomberg Toad, is a Froschlurch from the family of toads. The specific epithet honors the Swedish explorer Rolf Blomberg, who had discovered the type 1950.

Features

With a maximum head-body length of about 24 centimeters, is the largest toad of the earth (see also: cane toad ) and belongs to the Goliath frog of the world's largest anurans.

The species has a plump figure and a oberseits light brown, warty skin. The flanks are darker discontinued, while the belly is bright again.

Habitat and behavior

She lives in damp, swampy forest areas in a strip along the Pacific coast of Colombia and Ecuador. With up to 50,000 eggs in a breeding season, it produces as much spawning like no other Lurch. This is typical for toads, delivered in long strings into the water.
