Bloodline

Under a blood line is understood in animal breeding those offspring who go back in a direct line to an ancestor or ancestress. Depending on whether one defines the bloodline on male or female animals, is of a male or female bloodline of the question.

For the presentation of bloodlines bloodline panels ( en. reverse pedigrees ) were used. These are similar to the pedigrees, but use the exact reverse display: It will not be starting from a pet's ancestors ( ancestors ) are shown, but from the root of animal offspring.

The term is no longer used in scientific genetics today; one speaks in this case of lineages.
